The Beauty Of The Performance
Here at JovoDance we believe that for people of all ages, the knowledge of the arts is just as valuable as math, science and english. The arts are not only comprised of dancers, but of musicians, composers, actors/actresses and many more. Here at JovoDance, whether a person dances once a week, or six times a week they will be taught the proper technique and discipline of the classroom. This skill will be something that will be applied throughout their daily lives, and into their future. Most importantly, we teach them the beauty and FUN of the art of dance.
The students work so hard throughout the dance season, and we believe it is important to give them the opportunity to perform. We offer two performances to the dancers; The Nutcracker (held in December), and our Spring Show (held in June). The Nutcracker is performed by the Mid Atlantic Dance Theater, (visit our page) which is made up of many of the Jovo students, as well as dancers from all over the country. These dancers are brought together by one thing—their passion for dance. The Nutcracker has been a favorite tradition for many, and our dancers love that they can create holiday magic for all to experience! The second performance opportunity we offer is our Spring Show. This show includes all students, ages 3 to adult. It includes dances the students have learned throughout the year, and showcases their growth for family and friends to see.
Dance – It’s so Much More!
The famous Bob Fosse once said “Human beings are born with the instinct to express themselves through movement. Even before he could communicate with words, primitive man was dancing to the beat of his own heart.”
Dance improves flexibility, coordination, balance, range of motion, stamina, muscle tone, strength and posture. But physical fitness is just one of the many benefits of dance that can enhance your child’s life in so many ways. Children strengthen their cognitive abilities and memory skills through learning choreography.
Dance and physical activity should have the same status in schools as math, science and language. Psst: it may even help raise test scores, says Sir Ken Robinson.
